Albert Lafayette Lewis, my great-grandfather, was born June 30, 1868, in the small town of Goshen, Elkhart County, Indiana.  He was probably named after his mother's brother Albert Lafayette Smith, also his father's brother Lafayette Lewis.

After an early first marriage in North Dakota that produced a daughter (who he never met; name unknown), Albert returned to Michigan to marry his cousin.  They were married on August 23, 1906 in Manitowoc, Wisconsin.

Albert was a carpenter and violin maker in Cadillac, Michigan.  He died on March 12, 1945, age 77.
